Obituary for Thomas A. Krum

Thomas A. Krum, 96, of First Ave, Kingston died Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at Thompson House, Rhinebeck.

He was born in Kingston, NY on February 27th, 1922, a son of the late George W. and Bessie (O'Reilly) Krum.

A veteran of the US Army and life member of Joyce-Schirick VFW Post 1386, he was employed for over 42 years with NY Central Railroad in the downstate New York and Ft Lee, NJ area.

He was devoted to his Irish heritage and Catholic faith. In his earlier years he enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was a life member of New Paltz Rod & Gun Club. He loved watching westerns on television, or as he called them "cowboy movies", and WWE Wrestling.

Tom is survived by two sons, Thomas (Marilyn) Krum of Johnstown, NY and Robert (Elaine) Krum of Glendale, AZ, grandsons Jim (Kara), Joe, Jake, Anthony and Kevin, and one great grandchild Jake. Many nieces and nephews also survive.

He is predeceased by his wife, Winifred C. (Grube) Krum, daughter, Judy Horn, sisters, Florence Gilyardi, Barbara Morris, Eleanor Van Vliet, Evelyn Miller, Mary Powers and Madeline Morris, and brothers, Raymond, Harry, William, Walter and George Krum.

Family and friends will be received at the Gilpatric-VanVliet Funeral Home, 339 Broadway, Ulster Park, Town of Esopus, on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. The service will begin at 12:00 pm, Rev. John T. Kearney will officiate. Burial with military honors by Joyce-Schirick VFW Post 1386 Honor Guard will follow at Hurley Cemetery.
