Leslie E. "Lester" Litts, 61 of Broadway, a life-long resident of Port Ewen, passed away peacefully while in the comforting presence of his loving family on Wednesday, February 13th, 2019 at HealthAlliance Hospital, Broadway Campus.

He was born in Kingston, NY on September 5th, 1957, a son of the late Harold and Dolores (Coddington) Litts.

Lester was employed as a steel fabricator for Bailey Pottery in Kingston for over 8 years. He was also employed with Mott's Fruit Farm in Ulster Park, and Millen's Steel in Kingston.

He loved to fish the Hudson River and as a youth, deer hunting. He was an avid four-wheeler and great at "fabricating jokes" while around the campfire. He also loved gardening.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Kathy Litts, and his children, Kathleen Litts, and her companion Joshua Terpening, Jessica (Paul) Shultis, and Rosanne Coddington, all of Kingston, siblings, Harold (Diane) Litts of Connelly, Thomas (Tammy) Dolan of West Hurley, Helen Creegan of NC, Nancy Litts of New Berlin, Michael (Luann) Litts of Ulster Park, Frank (Nan) Litts of Port Ewen, Kevin (Bonnie) Litts of New Berlin, and Rose Litts of NC, seven grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and cousin also survive.

He is predeceased by a son, Michael Paul Litts, who tragically died in 1987, and siblings, Dolores Clarkson and John Wayne Dolan, and a granddaughter, Averiana MCcaster.

Cremation will be held at Wiltwyck Crematory.

A Time of Remembrance to celebrate Lester's life will begin at 3:30 pm on Saturday, Feb. 23, 2019 at the Gilpatric-VanVliet Funeral Home, 339 Broadway, Ulster Park, Town of Esopus. The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the celebration from 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm.

In lieu of fresh flowers, the family suggests indoor plants for loved ones to take home and nurture in memory of Lester.

Les was a great friend through our teen years . I have very fond memories with him . Playing ball, ice skating, playing true or dare just having many laughs and jokes being told on long walks or just hanging out in Connelly park . I also worked with him the first year at bailey pottery were we sat and just had long talks about the past. Iā€™m sorry for your early departure to heaven but your at peace know . Thanks for the great years we shared . Ruth Dauenhimer - post
