Georgine H. Drewes, 90, of a longtime resident of Neighborhood Road, Lake Katrine passed away while in the comforting presence of her family on Wednesday, January 2nd, 2019 at HealthAlliance Hospital, Broadway Campus.
She was born in the Bronx, New York on January 30th, 1928, a daughter of the late William and Maria (Stroh) Jaedicke.
While living in the Bronx, she worked as a secretary for Banker's Trust on Wall St in the Bronx. After moving to Lake Katrine, Georgine was employed as a secretary for Barclay's Bank on Wall St in Kingston for over 15 years. Following her retirement from Barclay's Bank, she was then a receptionist for both Dr.'s Lat and Galang, and for the Mental Health Association. She volunteered as a reading partner at Crosby School, and was a longtime parishioner of St. John's Episcopal Church in Kingston, where she also volunteered at the Angel Food East organization.
She was well-known for baking her famous coffee cake and Christmas cookies. She was an avid animal lover who enjoyed caring for all creatures great and small.
Most of all, she was devoted to her family, especially her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by one daughter Maria Walter, and her husband John, of Lake Katrine, one son, John Drewes, and his wife Terri, of Saugerties, five grandchildren, Ashley and Deidre Drewes, John Walter and his fiance Kristen LaBrake, Krystle Curtis and her husband Jason, April Walter and her fiance Anthony Davide, and five great grandchildren. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
She is predeceased by her husband John E. Drewes, four siblings Ruth Hogan, Pauline, Alice and William Jaedicke.
The family has entrusted the Gilpatric-VanVliet Funeral Home, 339 Broadway, Ulster Park with the care and cremation service arrangements for Georgine.
Cremation was held at Wiltwyck Crematory. In following Georgine's wishes there are no calling hours.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 am on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at St. John's Episcopal Church, 207 Albany Ave, Kingston, the Rev. Michelle Meech will officiate.
Inurnment of Georgine's ashes next to her husband John at Mt. Marion Cemetery will be privately held in the spring.
