Obituary for George O. Knox Sr.

George O.  Knox Sr.
God saw that you were tired and a cure was not to be…he put his arms around you and whispered “Come to Me”

On July 4, 2018, George Oscar Knox Sr, was called home to be with the Lord and Savior, surrounded by his loving family. George was born in Rock hill, SC and move to Kingston, NY after getting out of the Air Force in 1957 where he met and married his first wife Lillian Tilitha Miller.

George Oscar Knox Sr., the beloved son of the late Oscar Knox and Eunice Roach Knox was born on June 26, 1936 in Rock hill, SC.

On July 12, 1995 George married Mary Louise Barnes. He retired from Railroad after working there for over 25 years. He joined New Progressive Baptist Church and dedicated the majority of his time worshiping, gardening and helping others.

He had support from his dear friend Evelyn until his passing.

George’s cheerful and cherished memory will live in the lives of his: siblings: Alfonso Knox Sr., Lottie Fay Knox, Rosia Lee Thomason, Richard Haley: children: Hassan Bilal, Ivy Riley, Joseph Ronald Riley, Raymond Gay, Evelyn Barnes, Pearlie Gay, Phyllis Whitfield and Tommie Barnes Jr and the late Mikal Knox, Georgiana Knox, Olivia Dunn, William Dunn. A host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, goddaughter Tatiana Green, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Preceded his death was his brothers William Knox and Robert Knox.

Entrusted to the care of Gilpatric-VanVliet Funeral home, 339 Broadway, Ulster Park, the Knox Family will receive friends, Saturday July 14, 2018, from 10 am to 11 am at New Progressive Baptist Church, Kingston. The Home Going service will commence at 11 am, The Pastor Paul Worthington, celebrant.

Interment will follow in the family plot at Montrepose Cemetery with military honors by Joyce-Schirick VFW Post 1386 Honor Guard.
